Thinking of booking a Sealife Safari Padstow boat trip while you're in Cornwall? Here are some of the scintillating sights you can expect to see!

Stunning coastal views

stunning coastal views in padstow

Obviously the first thing you’ll see on a Padstow boat trip is the town’s harbour and quayside. Traditionally an important fishing port, you can experience the view seafarers have enjoyed for generations almost from the moment you leave dry land.

Once the boat has set sail, you’ll be able to take in the stunning cliffs and beautiful scenery of the North Cornish coastline, home to Polzeath Beach, frequented by famous poet Sir John Betjeman as well as modern-day surfers. The rugged coast is notable for the frequency of shipwrecks which have occurred there over the years, spawning the old saying “from Pentire Point to Hartland light, a watery grave by day and night.” See if you can spot some of the jagged rocks the old sea captains would have been so wary of!

The sea life in Cornwall

Aside from the spectacular geography, many fascinating and distinctive species share the waters off the north coast of Cornwall. For wildlife enthusiasts and families with children, a trip to the Cornwall coast is never complete without taking the opportunity to enjoy these extraordinary animals in their natural habitat. You can get up close and personal with your favourite marine animals on one of the many Padstow boat trips we have to offer.

Dolphins

A popular marine animal that is often spotted on one of our trips is the common dolphin. These beautiful and graceful creatures are usually found travelling in pods of 50 to 100 individuals. Inhabiting the shore just off Padstow, these attractive mammals are friendly and sociable and will have no problem approaching your boat to say hello. They’re distinctive, with yellow, blue or grey wavy marks down the side of their body, making for a beautiful addition to the Cornish waters.

Sharks

If you like your animals supersized – the basking shark is often sighted in the deeper waters around Padstow during summertime. Their bulk makes them easy to spot with a dorsal fin that cuts quickly through the waves. Some basking sharks reach a colossal 15 metres long, which is the same length as a double decker bus!

Seals

Grey seals are the most common animal you’ll discover on our boat trips, making themselves known to boats and keeping visitors entertained with their oceanic escapades. These cute mammals can be found feeding on fish close to the shore and they also love to take the time out to bathe in nicer weather.

Birds
